In this Laodicean era that the Church is currently in, we are being bombarded by well respected preachers who do nothing but boast about their riches, and whose goals seem to be to make you understand that they are rich, and are in need of nothing, because God has “blessed” them and He wants to give you the same, and that if you are not living the good life then something is wrong with your spiritual life.
I have witnessed (not just once) well known preachers asking their congregations to take out their wallets and prophesy over them. To these men the LORD says:
“You say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.” – Revelation 3:17
I also send this warning, not just to them, but also to all who give these men their power by entertaining their nonsense, that the LORD has said:
“So don’t be dismayed when the wicked grow rich and their homes become ever more splendid. For when they die, they take nothing with them. Their wealth will not follow them into the grave. In this life they consider themselves fortunate and are applauded for their success. But they will die like all before them and never again see the light of day. People who boast of their wealth don’t understand; they will die, just like animals.” – Psalms 49:16-20
May the LORD open our understanding and help us to see that this world has nothing that is worth anything, but our treasure is Christ, and our blessings cannot be gained by any other means but by humbling ourselves and allowing HIM to do as HE wishes with us
