The Gospel – So Simple, A Caveman Can Understand It

A&E

The Beginning

In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth. On the sixth day of creation, God created man in His own image, and placed him in the garden. This man, Adam, was created for the glory of God, to enjoy complete, perfect fellowship with his Creator, and to live for all eternity with no sickness, disease, and pain.

The Fall

But Adam, out of his own free will, chose to disobey his Creator, and went after his own desires, completely ignoring the perfect will of God. This was the very first act of disobedience by mankind. This lead to the fall of all mankind, and complete separation between man and God. Since then, mankind has been trying to regain righteousness by his own means.

The Consequence

Because of Adam’s disobedience, sin entered into the world, and we, children of Adam, bear the mark of Sin. We were conceived in Sin, and we were to die in sin. Our own attempt at achieving righteousness has only widened the gap between us and God. Any good works that we have done, God compares it to a rag stained with the blood of a menstruating woman.

Through Adam’s disobedience, we all were made enemies with God. Our very minds have declared war on God. We have no knowledge nor understanding of God. There is none that seeks after God, none have the desire to seek or know Him. We have all become corrupt, and undesirable to a Holy God. Where Adam was once a child of God, we have now become Children of Disobedience. We have become Children of Wrath. We have traded our Heavenly Father for the gods of this world. We have fallen from grace, and are worthy of the most severe punishment God can pour out, which He has promised to do. Everyday that we live, we store up even more wrath for the day when God pours out judgment on all the disobedient.

The Problem

My friends we have a very big problem. Every single one of us has offended God, in that we are guilty of breaking every single one of His commandments. Who of you can proclaim yourselves righteous, let him come forward. Who among you has never lied? If you’ve ever told one lie in your entire life, no matter how small, you are a liar and have broken the Law that says “Do Not Lie”. Who among you has ever taken anything that did not rightfully belong to you, EVEN as a toddler? This is called stealing, and you have broken the commandment that says “Do Not Steal”. Who among you has never committed adultery, which means to be sexually active with someone you are not legally married to? Some of you might be quick to respond “NO, I haven’t”, but The Bible says that if you’ve ever looked at someone with a sexual appetite, to lust for them you have committed adultery already in your heart and have broken the commandment that says “Do Not Commit Adultery”. Who among you has never hated a fellow man? You might say “I’ve never hated anyone”, but the Bible declares that if you have ever said angrily, “You Fool”, to anyone, you have secretly hated your brother in your heart and broke the commandment that says “Love Your Neighbor as Yourself”.

My friends, we just covered only four of the Ten Commandments God gave us to live by. Now ask yourselves this question: “If God were to come right now, and judged you according to the Ten Commandments, would He find you innocent, or guilty of breaking any of His Laws?” He would undoubtedly find you guilty, and your destination would be Hell for all of Eternity.

The problem is, now that we have offended an Eternal God and incurred infinite wrath, we are destined to be cast out from His presence for all of Eternity into the Lake of Fire that was prepared for Satan and all of the angels who rebelled. This Lake of Fire is described as a place of grotesque darkness and of torment that burns with an everlasting fire. It is a place of agony, and teeth clenching pain to which there is no end. This punishment IS eternal, and there is no escaping it. Why, because our sins are ever before Him, therefore the end result of sin is eternal death from which there is no escape. There is no such thing as purgatory, as the Roman Catholics teach, nor is there complete anihalation of the soul, as the Jehovah’s Witnesses teach. The Bible states that Hell is not only real, but it lasts for all of eternity and there is no escape whatsoever.

One day we all will face the Ultimate Judge of all the earth who will judge in righteousness. One day we will all stand before Him to give an account of the things we did while living on the earth. Many will provide a long list of good deeds that they did, but will be thrown into the pit of Hell. Many will plead for mercy, but they will not be shown any. Many will beg for one more chance to get it right, but they will be dragged away in abject terror. When all the wicked are destroyed from the face of the earth, the whole universe will sing for joy at their destruction. Mothers, your babies will rejoice when you’re dragged away and flung into Hell. Husbands, your wives will beg God to rid the earth of you. Each person will stand on their own without a single voice speaking on their behalf. All because you have broken God’s commandments.

The Hope

Since we have broken all the Laws, what is our hope then? How can we avoid this Hell fire? Is there any possible way for man to regain the paradise lost? Yes, there is hope. Yes, there is a way of escape. This hope lies only in Jesus, the only begotten Son of God. Jesus Christ, who Himself is God, became a man, and took our blame, guilt, and shame upon Himself. As a man, He suffered as we’ve suffered. He was tempted with all the things we are tempted with, yet He remained without sin. He lived the perfect life that we could never accomplish, and satisfied perfectly the Law of God.

 cross

It Is Finished

He experienced the worst of the worst for your sake. He was bruised, beaten, mocked, abandoned, tortured, and put to death so that you may live. Jesus was rejected even by His own family; He was hated by many, and loved by very few. He became the very thing that God HATES; He became SIN on your behalf, and was nailed on a cross as one who is cursed of God. The full weight of your sin was laid upon Him. And as He hung there, He had to bear the rejection of His Heavenly Father. This rejection was meant for you and me, yet Jesus bore it all. On that cross, the full Wrath of God was poured out on Him and as He cried out ‘IT IS FINISHED’, our unpaid debt to a Holy God was fully paid and His death set us free from the bondage of Sin.

Do you think it strange to have a stranger walk into a courtroom, and just before the judge hits the gavel to sentence a cruel murderer the death penalty, to have that stranger say to the judge “I will take his place; let me die in his place”? Or do you think it stranger still, if that man who was willing to take the murderer’s place was actually the judge’s one and only son? Or do you think it even stranger still if the judge was perfectly willing, and happy to pour his wrath on his own son instead of the murderer who fully deserved it, so that the murderer can walk away guiltless? Yet, this is but a flimsy comparison of what God has done for you, MURDERER; this is what God has done for you, THIEF; this is what God has done for you, FORNICATOR; for you, LIAR, for you, IDOLATOR. Jesus Christ, the only beloved Son of God, took your sins in His own body – as if it were He who committed these atrocious acts, and suffered the worst thing of all – being forsaken of His Father, to die on that cross and bear the full brunt of God’s wrath that you deserved. He took your debt, your shame, your guilt, your faults, your curse, all these things that rightfully belonged to you, and bore them alone – for YOUR sake. He died, so that you can live. He was made sin, so that you can be made free. He was despised, so that you can be loved. He was forsaken, so that you would no longer be an outcast.

The Outcome

Because Jesus shed His blood and died, we can now have the forgiveness of sins. Because He was buried, we were buried with Him, because He rose from the dead, we have the promise of being raised from the dead just as He was. The only question remains: “Will you surrender to Him, or will you continue in your futile attempt at self righteousness? There is only one path that leads to eternal life, and that is Jesus Christ, and not by any works of righteousness which you have done, but solely by His Grace and Mercy through Jesus Christ can anyone be saved. It was He who said of Himself “I Am The Way, The Truth, and The Life, no man comes to my Father, but by me.” There is no other name by which anyone can be saved, but by the name of Jesus Christ. If you can hear my voice today, run to Jesus today and escape the Wrath of God that is to come upon all the disobedient. For the Bible declares in I Cor 6:9-10: “don’t you know that unrighteous ones will not inherit the kingdom of Elohim? Don’t be fooled, neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the corrupt, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous ones, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortionists shall inherit the kingdom of God.”

the call

The Call

And so I beg you, if you feel the tug of the Spirit of God pulling at your heart right now, do not delay. Now is the accepted time; now is the day of salvation. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Do not delay your decision any longer. Turn to Jesus Christ and be saved from the Wrath of God to come. Turn to God and live.
